Differnet audio length after conversion

Hi,
I'm trying to convert a m4a file to mp3/wav file, and I'm having a wierd problem.
Every time I tried to convert the out put file came a few seconds shorter than the original.
After examination, I noticed it is because the output file is, for some reason, a bit faster.

I resulted to playing the file with VLC and recording it with Audacity.

Does any one have a similar problem?

Are you sure the playback speed is set to 1.00x ?
Check the bottom right corner of the player, under the Mute button (speaker).
