HDDVD playback

Postby bill-b » 22 Sep 2018 12:22

Hello,

according to this web page https://www.videolan.org/vlc/releases/3.0.1.html VLC is now able to play HDDVD.
So I installed latest version 3.0.4 but there is no option to read HDDVD when chosing 'open disc'.
When trying to open manually evo files on the disc, it seems VLC is playing but I only get colored pictures and no sound.

It's no longer a priority since Toshiba abandoned their HD-DVD format back in 2008: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HD_DVD

I'm aware, thanks.

But the web page I mention is clear : "HD-DVD .evo support"

VLC supports EVO files, not HD-DVD discs.

I repeat again : "HD-DVD .evo support", which should mean EVO files on HD-DVD discs, or what else ?

VLC should read files from discs, even if it can't read HD-DVD discs directly with menus etc.
