VLC 3.0.3 Playback Issue - Possible Bug?

Hi all,

With the newest version of VLC, version 3.0.3, AVI files extracted from my NVR software no longer play correctly. The image will freeze as soon as it starts up, and remain frozen for the duration of the video. The odd thing is the video plays fine in the previous version of VLC, version 2.2.8. I am running Windows 10 Version 1803, but have confirmed that it also appears to be an issue with the latest version of VLC for Linux as well.

I will attach logs for both 3.0.3 and 2.2.8 hoping that will help. Please let me know what else you need to hopefully help you fix this.

If you're using VLC 3.0.x and have video issues.
Try:

  1. Preferences -> Input/Codecs -> Disable hw decoding
  2. If you are a Windows user, Preferences -> Video -> Change from direct3d11 to direct3d9
If any solution works, please tell us which one solved your case, Please also quote your video driver name and version.
