Metadata in mp3 file

I recorded an internet stream, with metadata, to an mp3 file. Can I play that file with VLC and get song tags to show like while playing the stream from the internet? Right now, I get beeps at metadata intervals. Thanks!

And if that was an original MP3 1:1 rip, even with junk metadata inside there should be no "beeps".

I'm way out of my depth, so I apologize in advance for my ignorance...isn't vlc demuxing (? - extracting, displaying and jumping over metadata bytes) when consuming internet streams? Why can't it do same from a file (maybe naively, can't byte handling be the same)?

Metadata is tranmitted in-band but with info in HTTP header on how to skip/use it.
On the other side, the server shouldn't enable meta if the client does not request/support it. So something is wrong on your side.

I guess the way I recorded the stream is not standard...I requested metadata (Icy-MetaData: 1) and the mp3 file includes the http header info (with metadata interval, etc.). Since this is not a common use case, I understand why vlc does not handle the file format...Thanks InTheWings!
