VLC 2.2.6 Audio compressor threshold not saved

I recently upgraded VLC player to 2.2.6 and noticed audio was too loud. When I checked compressor settings in the effects menu the threshold appeared to be set to 0.
I changed and saved it in audio preferences but that didn't solve it.
Oddly in audio pref. the value is changed but when you go to compressor in effects menu it's still 0.
