VLC desktop stream to chromecast possible?

Hi,
I am trying to stream the entire screen(desktop) using VLC to chromecast... (stream->capture device, choose desktop->stream->source screen:\\->destination HTTP or RTSP, display locally-> transcoding options h264+mp3->stream), then choose Renderer-> chromecast device name, yet it says only "converting screen" on the TV and it doesn't go further.
Am I doing something wrong here?.. if this is supposed to work, can someone give me step by step instructions please?
I am doing this trying to get vlc play a movie with subtitles (which does not work yet when casting a movie from VLC to chromecast). I know about the native chromecast cast tab/desktop functionality, but that is not working too good for me and I do not have the option to control resolution/fps/bitrate when casting that way...
