youtube videos issue

Hello everyone, first post here.
I made a quick search and did not find a recent topic about the problem.
About a month ago, my VLC apps started to experience problems while trying to play youtube videos. This is happening on at least 3 different devices with windows xp, windows 7 and linux mint.

This is happening even to videos which were previously played successfully.

So, I managed to "fix" the problem.
It turned out the "check for update" option does not work, thus I was thinking I had the latest versions.
I updated the win7 vlc to 64bit 3.0.1 and it started playing youtube.
I tried both 32bit 3.0.0 and 3.0.1 on the XP pc, but they both did want to resolve the correct video URLs, so I had to install the previous version ( 2.6 if I remember correctly ) which works fine for now.
