RTP re-streaming not working on command line in V2.2.x

Postby dwbc » 08 Nov 2017 07:15

I tried to run the following command with multiple versions of VLC, it seems that while this works for version 2.1.x and prior, this no longer works in the 2.2.x version.

Code: Select all

c:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC>vlc -I dummy -vvv --file-logging --loop rtsp://184.72.239.149/vod/mp4:BigBuckBunny_175k.mov --sout="#rtp{dst=127.0.0.1,port=5004,mux=ts}"
Basically, I am trying to take an incoming rtsp stream (the buckbunnny stream rtsp feed online), and trying to serve it as a rtp stream locally. I do this by running a second instance of VLC to receive the rtp stream (i.e. rtp://127.0.0.1:5004). I have looked a the extra debug information, and while both logs appeared to show the same setup message (i.e. main stream out... ), with version 2.2.2 and 2.2.6 VLC, I can not receive stream from the client at all.

Interestingly enough, if I ran the same thing using the GUI, it appeared to work fine with 2.2.2 and 2.2.6, so it seemed to only apply to command line. This is rather odd and I must admit I can't see what the difference would be here.

I have tried this on a Linux and a Windows 7 machine and found the same result. Can someone please confirm if this is a bug in the latest VLC release stream, and best still, if there is a fix for this.

Cheers!
