VLC Plays smaller screen that previously

I am having difficulty watching flv's on VLC Media PLayer due to fact that the screen used to be larger than it is now, (not counting "Full Screen" selection. Am I not configuring something correctly. I thought at first it was the program so i uninstalled it and re-installed latest version for Windows XP.
