Player Audio Problem

I decided to update to the latest nightly build ( 3.0.0-git vetinari) and I seem to be having a problem with the audio preferences

I had the audio set in my old vlc player to %50 always, so I could increase or decrease depending on the situation (don't want it always going at 100, because maybe someone's sleeping and I want to respect that, and maybe I don't have headphones because money problems); now I can't change it so it always defaults to %50 or lower; I understand though, that the settings for any vlc player are stored on a file called vlcrc

is there a line I can change that can fix this, or not?

As much as this is necro posting; this problem has now arrived with the release of VLC 3.0.0 (Stable)(64-Bit)

I upgraded to this version hoping I would be able to set the "always reset audio start level" option to 50% or 35%, because I don't want vlc on 100% when im watching a video and I wake up my grandmother

unless there's an option to change in the vlcrc file in my appdata's roaming folder, is this a bug, is this intended to be "removed" in a sense; what's happening. I'd REALLY like someone to tell me what's going on instead of never helping

please reply when able, and any help at this point would be greatly appreciated

You need to select a compatible audio output plugin first.

oh......ill take the dunce cap for free alex

to be fair, it was set to automatic by default, so I expected it to work off the bat. Maybe there is something wrong with vlc's automatic choosing of a compatible audio module; regardless, that did the trick
