Poor sound quality out off AAC open.fm streams

Hey guys,

I tried using VLC to listen streams from this website http://open.fm/play/138
I have extracted the url but the sound quality is really poor in comparison to how google chrome plays it.
The sound in VLC is muffled. High pitch sound dominates the spectrum whereas low and mostly mid tones are pretty much missing.
Other web streams sound fine so there is something specific how VLC plays this stream.

http://stream.open.fm/138?type=.aac&user=800080391234&player_group=WWW&user-agent=OpenFM-Chameleon%2F1.100.0002%20(BROWSER%3BFirefox%3B53.0)%20(OS%3BOSX%3BIntel%20Mac%20OS%20X%2010.12)

I am using: VLC Version 2.2.4 Weatherwax (Intel 64bit)

Update: I have just tried Clementine player, which plays this stream with decent quality.

Tnx

First you can play it from http://stream.open.fm/138 on vlc
And you can try to make a better sound with the Equalizer in Tools/Effects and Filters/Audio Effects/Equalizer
You can choose a preset on the right of the window.

Thanks for the interest but is does not help me in any way. Perhaps I was not clear in my post and I assumed someone would actually try listening.

The problem, I presume, with VLC is that it's AAC codec is not recognising/interpreting the actual stream correctly - hence the distorted sound.
