Re, "Star Trek, The Next Generation", "The Full Journey" Blu-ray box set, EAN 5051368261935, Season 1, Disc 1.
Re, VLC version 2.2.4 Weatherwax running in Windows 7 SP-1.
The box set contains 41 Blu-ray discs having all 176 episodes in seasons 1 through 7. This subject disc (Season 1, Disc 1) is the first I've played from this box set. It holds 3 features plus special features. Feature 1 is the longest (1:31:22 running time). The disc menu's default is "Play All" (meaning: all 3 features). When played, VLC automatically played only feature 1. It then got stuck at the end of feature 1 -- it looped in 17 second intervals while showing 3 seconds of remaining running time (playback counter = 1:31:19). The 17 second intervals were silent except for ~1/2 second burst of audio (closing music) at the end of each interval. This behavior persisted for about 8 or 9, 17-second intervals. Thereafter, playback was soundless but persisted in the 17-second intervals. During these later intervals, the playback counter alternated from 1:31:19 - 1:31:18 - 1:31:20 - 1:31:19. I attempted to access the menu. Attempting to access the menu caused VLC to automatically begin playing feature 2 concatenated with feature 3 (1:31:04 combined running time). The transition from feature 2 to feature 3 was normal. At the end of feature 3, as was the case at the end of feature 1, VLC again got stuck 3 seconds before the actual end of feature. Then, VLC appears to have crashed and would not redraw the window when I switched computer focus back to it.
This disc is region free. EAN 5051368261935 is from England. Season 1, Disc 1 is probably the same as is found in the "Star Trek, The Next Generation" Season 1 Blu-ray box set.
I'm available for further testing.
Regards,
Mark.
PS: I did not attempt to access the disc menu on 1st play. On launch, I selected "Blu-ray" & "No disc menus". After "crash", pushing the stop button successfully returned focus back to VLC and it redrew its window, so apparently it was not actually crashed.
PPS: I ejected the disc and inspected around the spindle hole. It is a dual-layer disc.
