Audio Delay Record Button

Searched for a while and I couldnt find anything on this specifically.
I use the VLC record button to record clips from .flv and mp4 files it never happened to me before the audio was always good but then one day the short recordings I was doing using the record button the audio was out of sync sometimes upto 5 seconds.
I understand how to use hotkeys to sync the audio but I am wondering if there is a fix for this at all because for years it worked fine for me.
