Problem with Viewing Quality with NTSC 1 DVDs

Hello! I live in Europe, and have a few NTSC Region 1 DVDS, all can be viewed with VLC media player, but 3 of them have very disturbing comb-like streaks most of the time, esp. when a person moves, but also in the background. Is there any way to get rid of these streaks? They do not appear when watching them on a TV/DVD player set, but on the PC with VLC it appears all the time. I wanted to upload a screenshot, but cannot find an attachment option. Help would be very much appreciated, thanks!

Thanks for the info, please find a screenshot below (it shows a dancer's moving leg). The comb-like streaks are esp. strong when someone moves, but they also appear in the background

Your file is interlaced so you need to use one of the deinterlacers from the Video menu.

And I suggest you to set it to Automatic in the Video preferences, then Save and exit VLC, so it'll be automatically enabled next time you will play an interlaced video.

Hi! Many thanks for you reply, it is already much better. Is there a rule as to what De-Interlace modus to use for this problem with NTSC 1, or is is more of a "trial and error" thing? I have chosen" Linear" right now, but it is still slightly visible when someone moves quickly. Thanks!!
