Why on the latest version of VLC (windows version), when I spend an hour, fine tuning the graphic equalizer setting to the way I want them, check mark "write changes to config", does it NOT writ those changes so I have to start the process all over again?

I just got back into using this media player, and I recall using this feature a lot on earlier versions with no problems.

You need to set eq this way.
From preferences, select "Show settings All".
From "Audio" - "Filters", check "Equalizer with 10 bands".
From "Filters" - "Equalizer", enter "Bands gain" and "Global gain".
Untick "Use VLC frequency bands" to use ISO bands.
This has better natural sound on low frequencies.

jayR, a helpful answer, maybe, if we trial and error some more. But you've answered sort of a DIFFERENT QUESTION than the one asked!
Over-abbreviated! Are you indicating Preferences in the Tools submenu? And please, just how do I navigate to the remaining places you say to adjust. It's a forest of menus and submenus you're talking about, and it's too much about trees in your description. What version are you describing, I'm wondering!
