Remembering position + audio track + subtitles

Is there a way for VLC to remember all of these:
- position of the video
- audio track chosen if there were many
- which subtitles were loaded / picked
?

So that after playing a movie and then closing VLC window and then playing the movie again, all picks do not have to be repeated by the user?

In regards to remembering the position of a video: if it is by default, I does not work for me; or I must have turned off that option by an accident

Also googling this issues up gives me somewhat a different answer- that it can be achieved only with plugins or some workarounds

As for the other two: sounds like a feature request to me, that I must post. [Two other players that I use, BS.Player and Media Player Classic, also remember only position of a video]
