Automated subs no longer working after VLC rebuild

Postby Rosuav » 20 Oct 2016 06:25

I have a whole lot of .mkv files which I want to render with subtitles. Previously, VLC would show them automatically; but after I built the latest VLC from source, it no longer does. Looking for help with the trouble-shooting, please!

Working system: Debian Jessie or Stretch (used both without problems), using the apt-gettable VLC (2.2.4 Weatherwax, revision 2.2.3-37-g888b7e89).

Non-working system: Exactly the same OS, using VLC compiled from source (3.0.0-git Vetinari, revision 2.2.0-git-9362-g8339c21).

I used bootstrap and configure without arguments, and then had what appeared to be a perfectly successful build.

Happy to post logs if necessary - I have the build directories on both Jessie and Stretch.

Turns out it's a regression about two hundred commits ago. I'll take this to the dev mailing list.

Or, after redirection, the tracker. If anyone else runs into this, it's here: https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/17529
