Searching media library/music/playlist does not work properly ( Possible Bug? )

So this is a minor irritation with how the Playlist works when searching folders, and I have not found any option in VLC that gets around this problem so it may actually be a bug.
I have started using VLC as an actual music manager/player due to its support of multiple formats that programs designed for media management usually do not support. VLCs expanded playlist system with Media Library/My Music/My Videos/etc. etc. actually makes VLC very usable in this regards, minus one problem:
The search function.
It doesn't work?
Well, it DOES work, it just doesn't work very well. Let me explain further:
VLC appears to view multiple folders in your "My Music" or "Media Library" section as individual files until you expand them. This sort of makes sense for playlist functionality, however it has a possibly unintended major negative drawback on the search function: Search will only search for files in folders that you have once expanded during your current session. It erroneously ignores all files that have not yet been opened - thus completely destroying the entire purpose of the search. If I already knew where the file was due to having already opened the folder, I wouldn't need to search for it now would I ? The only way to get around this is to one by one open up every single folder, and then the search functionality will recognize them as folders with files in them, instead of just an individual file itself.
It appears that VLCs Search system cannot tell the difference between files and folders until they have already been opened at least once during your session. If that is the case, this may actually be a bug.
Is there a setting to get around this?
