TrueHD / Atmos with Win10 and OS X 10.10 Yoesmite

Hey guys,
Sooo... trying to play anything with Atmos audio is a bit of an issue for me currently. Tried on both Yosemite and Windows 10 (two physically separate machines). Audio stutters in here and there, but is mostly silent. Both machines are running the latest VLC.

Is this just not supported yet? Kodi seems to be able to play them without issue, but I'd like to be able to watch them on other machines.
