Twitter won't play sound of video recorded by VLC

Hi all. My first post here. I don't believe this is a Windows specific issue. The issue is as stated in the subject, after trimming a small clip from a .mp4 recorded by VLC, and successfully uploading it to Twitter, the embedded playback works fine but won't play sound.

What I learned is that Twitter requires the audio type within the video file to be AAC. How do I determine what type of audio is on this file? Is there a way to change it in the VLC settings?

To be sure, when I play all my recordings from VLC, they work fine with video and sound. No issues in VLC player. But on Twitters support page [https://support.twitter.com/articles/20172128#] it says

"What video formats do you support?

We currently support MP4 and MOV video formats on mobile apps.

On the web, we support the MP4 video format with H264 format with AAC audio. You can upload videos up to 512MB, however you will be prompted to edit videos to 30 seconds or less in length."

VLC has always been the most versatile and helpful video player I've used. So I'd be surprised to learn that we could not get the recordings from it to function with Twitter. I assume there's a simple solution. When I go into the properties and details of the recording, the only audio information I get is bitrate, channels, and audio sample rate. But what type of audio it is (AAC vs mp3) I couldn't say. I suspect the issue is in this detail.

Also I have tried using Windows Movie Maker to open the recording and then export in different formats (.wmv, .mp4) but no sound from either still when playing from the embedded Twitter post.

Thanks if anyone can help guide me toward a solution.
