Continue Playback not working for DVDs in v2.2.3

I have upgraded to v2.2.3 of VLC and tested a few scenarios.

It turns out that VLC 2.2.3 does not continue playback on DVDs. Continue playback does work with MP4 files and similar but not with DVDs on disc or saved to hard drive. I have not tested with Blue-ray discs, only with the usual movie DVDs.

I am using an iMac (late 2009) running OS X 10.11.4.

Does anyone know whether this is a bug ? Perhaps it's a feature that cannot work in VLC ?
