Seen from the technical point VLC is just the best and most advanced media player out there, yet the reason a lot of people don't switch yet seems to be the look of it. So this is why I wanted to suggest that you give People possibility to fully skin the Player. Not only the Control Window, but the Video one as well, maybe even allowing the User to "dock" the windows, giving you your typical Windows MediaPlayer look and feel.

I know that, from your standpoint, it doesnt seem like something important, yet I really think it'd help giving VLC a great popularity boost.

If you're interested, I'd be more than pleased to help you in the ways I can. (which would be design :)

As a designer, you could possibly develop some skins for us. It would be greatly appreciated.

Someone ports the GUI done by Max Rudberg for the OSX version of VLC.

Thats what I inted to do... its just that I'd like to skin the video window aswell to give it a nice overall look

FYI, the skins2 plugin in the CVS version of vlc now supports skinnable video output.

I would like to suggest the removal of all skinnability.
Skins provide such a terrible user experience that no one

Thanks for your kind suggestion. But I'm afraid we won't take into account. If the skins modules are there, it's because lots of users asked for them.

also, vlc does use default operating system look-and-feel unless you tell it to use the skins. The skins are not yet default. So if you don't like skins, just not use them. Ooh, and I might add that lots and lots of users tend to willingly sacrifice usability for appearance.

I think the skins need to have more controls in the right-click menu.
For example, to open the messages window and the quick file open in the gui.
The skins2 interface doesn't even have an option to switch the interface back to wxwindows.
