Asterix & Obelix Mission Cleopatre plays scrambled

"Asterix & Obelix Mission Cleopatre" region2 DVD directed by Alain Chabat plays scrambled.
This is my configuration:
I have an external USB2 IOMEGA DVD-ROM drive plugged to my IMAC G5.
I dedicated this drive to play region2 DVDs only.
The IMAC DVD Player plays it OK.
VLC plays it all scrambled.
I think this movie has something special because I'm able to play other region2 movies with VLC in this configuration.

that wouldn't explain this issue. Though another form of copyprotection might be at work here perhaps.

OK Antoine, my external IOMEGA drive is RPC2 but it's turned to region2 reading, and my DVD is region 2 ... too.
So like Derk-Jan said; it doesn't explain this issue.
Like I already said, my Macintosh DVD player (the default one that is on my IMAC, bought in USA with its own region1 Matsushita driver) is playing the movie without problem when coming from my external region2 drive.
VLC is not.
