VLC 2.2.2 Audio output problem

Postby Baflar » 18 Feb 2016 13:16

The problem is purely audio. Most classical music flac files provide a few seconds of silence at the beginning of a track, and I find that this helps to provide a faultless delivery of the music. However, many non-classical music albums begin the music right at the start of the file, and my DAC (the excellent Chord Mojo), cannot deliver approximately the first one second of the recording from VLC. There is no problem on music tracks that have the built-in initial silence. I have tested this solution by using Sony’s SoundForge software to add 2 seconds of silence at the start of a flac file and I can confirm that this simple trick completely solves the problem! Is there an option to have VLC supply 1-2 seconds silence at the start? I thought I'd found the answer in the howtogeek page that suggests navigating to Access modules - File, but the latest VLC doesn't have "caching value in ms" under Access modules - File. I hope someone's able to help. It’s the sort of fault that becomes more annoying as time passes. I'm not a geek with computers! But I do appreciate good sound. My gushing thanks to anyone who can solve this problem for me!
