Rotate and save m2ts file in windows 7

I saw some posts asking about rotating videos 90 degrees and saving them in the original format (in my case m2ts). However, I was unable to figure it out. When I access the video with VLC media player it is rotated, but not with other products, especially Windows Media Player in my case. I am a new user, so if someone could either point me to the appropriate post or tell me how to do this in a step-by-step instruction I would very much appreciate it.
