eac3 sound does not work (it works with others media players)

Postby AmatCoder » 01 Jan 2016 11:03

I uploaded a .ts file with eac3 sound (Dolby Digital Plus) recorded from a spanish DVB-T channel.
If you play the file you can heard some whistles instead normal sound. It happens on both tracks (one is spanish, other is english).

The same file works with mpv, mplayer and xine on Arch Linux.
It also works with MPC-HC on Windows 7. Also I tried vlc-nightly 2.2.0 and 3.0.0 without luck.

The test file (25 MB):

Keep in mind that problem exist when channel is being emitted, so it is not related to recording.

Thanks in advance and Happy New Year!

I have filled a bug report: ticket 16316

Also, I found a workaround forcing to vlc to use avcodec:

Code: Select all

vlc dvb-t://frequency=682000000:bandwidth=8 --codec=avcodec
