[SOLVED] How to download and save MP3 files?

Hello

I googled for this before asking, but didn't find the answer.

I'm running VLC 2.2.1 on Windows 7, and would like to use VLC to simply download MP3 files from web sites, eg. http://www.acme.com/myfile.mp3.

After pasting the URL into Media > Open Network Stream, I'm only given the following choices:
  • Enqueue
  • Play
  • Stream
  • Convert
Which option should I use to simply download the file without useless re-encodings?

Thank you.

This would be possible only via the CLI. You might as well use a normal download tool or your browser.

Thanks. That's what I currently use, and was looking for a faster alternative.

Google Chrome insists on playing MP3s right in the browser, with no (obvious, at least) way to tell it to *download* the files instead, like it's possible for PDFs.

Maybe there's an extension where I can simply right-click a URL, select "Download", and Chrome will download it into my computer.

Solved: Simply copy/paste the URL into a new window in Chrome, let the file start, right-click on the page, and choose "Save as…".

Thank you.
