Normalize video size on playback

Hi Everyone,

This is my first time on this chat site.

I read a few posts that looked like they addressed my problem, but none of the suggestions worked for me.

I make videos which are comprised of multiple video snippets.

I'm a novice so bear with me.

When I view the final product, the size changes as different snippets come into play.

The best way to describe it is that for the first 2 minutes of the final product, the picture is a rectangle roughly 2 inches from the sides of my monitor (I have a rectangular monitor).

Then, when another different video snippet comes into play, the picture goes full screen from top to bottom, and about 2 inches from the left and right sides of the monitor (basically a square.)

I tried the X/Y settings and masking the video with a photo (which sounded promising), but neither seemed to make any difference.

All I want is for there to be some space between the video and the sides of my monitor.

I only have a problem when the video touches the top and bottom of my monitor. I don't have a problem with the rectangle-shaped videos.

I also wouldn't mind resorting to cropping-out the tops and bottoms of the videos to create that space.

Sincerely,
Danny

Disregard...I don't think there's anyway for VLC to solve my problem.
