Rephrase: Multiple RTSP video streams at the same time

Using the VLC GUI, I have turned off (unchecked) the following:

Allow only one instance
Use only one instance when started from file manager

I open one instance of VLC, then open an RTSP stream. Then I open another instance of VLC and open a different stream from a different host. It kills the first stream and starts up the second in the same window from the first instance of VLC.

Is it possible to start multiple VLC instances and get multiple separate RTSP streams?
