Lists not getting sorted

When I have a whole series to watch, ten + shows, vlc no longer sorts them by any definition. This only began about 3 or for updates ago. The shows are all released from the same group, titles all have same font etc the only difference is s01e01, s01e02, s01e03 and so on. When I pull up sort by title ascending it no longer puts them in the right order, in fact no matter what I sort them by nothing changes. This was never a problem for me before a certain update (sorry can't remember which one). This is becoming annoying when some shows I watch have over 24 episodes a season. Any ideas on how to fix this.?
