Crop settings in Matroska header ignored

In MKVToolNix the parameters Video crop left/top/right/bottom can be set in the Matroska header. In version 2.1.x VLC would respect these settings during playback. In version 2.2.x VLC the video is played back without any cropping. Is this a regression or am I missing any setting in VLC?

I use VLC on Windows 7, but I assume the issue is OS independent.
