vlc won't work anymore

my problem with vlc is when i play a film in it it plays fine for about 5 mins then it starts freezing, pausing ,little boxs you name it it does it ive tryed all vlc players and they all do it im on windows vista 32 can anyone help is there a patch for vlc or are we all screwd
