Using ATI Remote Wonder with VideoLan, here's how.

Have seen a few posts asking how to get the ATI Remote Wonder working with VideoLan. Of course there is the Girder route but if that appears to fiddly try this (probably) easier method.

Swing on over to http://remotew.free.fr/plugins.htm, scroll down the page until you get to Remote Wonder Key Factory & get it downloaded to your PC. Or you can go direct to the authors page at http://catsoft.wz.cz/sp/rwkeyfactory.php

Once done unzip & install the RWKeyfactory.dll into your Remote Wonder plug ins folder.

Now comes the configuring bit which is easy but will take around 20 - 30 mins, depending on how many mistakes you make.

Open VideoLan - Settings - Preferances - expand Interface - Click the Advanced Options Box - Click Hot Keys Settings. Drag this screen to one side of your PC.

Now right click the Remote Wonder icon in the sys tray. Properties - Plug-Ins tab. Highlight RW Key Factory & click Configure.
Drag this new window to the opposite side of where you left the VideoLan settings window & you can easily flick back & forth.

Now all ya gotta do it tie the two up.

Example for Play/Pause. The HotKey for this in VideoLan is Space.

In the scoll window in the RW Key Factory window scroll down until you come to the ATI Key - Play. Click in the Enabled & Check The Box that will appear.

Then click anywhere in the Action field & to the right a small icon with three ... will appear. Click this.

In the Key dropdown box scroll through until you find Space. Select this & OK everything until you back to Videolan. You should now have Play/Pause control by use of the Play button.

Then just tally up the other VideoLan Hot Keys to the RW Key Factory & VideoLan is full functioning.

Beware.
In Key Factory. When in the Key drop down box, you can type in the key your looking for, but you must then select the key from the list or else it won't appear.

Some keys don't seem to work. + is a hot key for faster in VideoLan but the only plus key available in Key Factory is the one on the Num Pad, which don't work. So you'll probably have to change some of the hot keys in VideoLan.

Hope this helps. There's numerous other options in Key Factory so have a play & if you discover anything useful please post here.

Have fun.
