How can I hardcore subtitles with VLC? (srt subtitle and mp4 video)

I tried several times, but no subtitle appears in the resulting file:

I did the following steps:
- Midia \ Convert-Save \ Add file & Use subtitle file \
- Convert \ Edit Selected Profile \ Subtitles Tab \
- check box Subtitles \ check box "Overlay subtitles on the video" \ Save
- destination file
- Start

Did I miss anything ?

Thanks!

Do the same procedure through Media > Stream... wizard.
Then edit the final transcoding chain: delete "scodec=" option, keep "soverlay" there.

It worked perfectly for several days.
But now the resulting file shows the same subtitle twice, I mean, it is duplicated in the same screen, one above the other...

I must have misconfigured something, but I have reviewed all the procedures from https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/12338 and https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.ph ... 38#p410302 , and I think I am following correctly your instructions.

After trying several times, I am here again looking for help.

How can I fix these duplicated subtitles ?

( I also tried in another computer, installed VLC from scratch, and the same problem occurred. )

Thanks in advance !

Are they not just the hard + soft subtitles playing at the same time? You can reset preferences.

Yes, I found out that I have to check "Display the output" and that means that either you don't need to load the subtitles separately if they are alrady loaded on the video, or if you do load them separately, you need to make sure there are no other subtitles loaded.
