Custom audio output configuration?

Hi all!

I run a small home studio, with 5.1 output configuration. However, I use a firewire audio interface (Firefly 808U), and connections are LR over AES/Spdif (Out 9-10), Center on analog out 1, sub on analog out 2, Lsurr over analog out 3, Rsurr over analog out 4.

This is also how I set up the outputs in the speaker configuration tab in system preferences (Mac OSX10.6.8) so when I play music in Itunes, it works as supposed (LR coming over AES, going to main LR speakers)

This setup works very well for me, and I'd love to be able to keep it like this. However, in VLC, when playing a movie (any format), it proceeds to take the "standard" output, (L R C lfe Lsur, Rsur over analog out 1>6). Is it possible to reconfigure VLC to take the output configuration I use when playing movies?

Thanks in advance, this would really help me...

Regards,
Bert.

You can use remap filter.

I tought of that, however, my main LR outputs are on output 9 & 10. and VLC "only" supports 8.1 (front and rear center). so I could get until output 9, but not further... :( or am I seeing it wrong?

Hi again,

VLC suggested an update today, which I did, went from version 2.1.4 to 2.1.5, and now it's all fine :)
Update suggested something about channel ordening...

Thank you, in any case :)

Regards,
Bert.
