Stop & Resume recording once each hour

Hello guys,

I am running VLC 2.1.5 on Windows 7 and livestreamer (https://github.com/chrippa/livestreamer/) to watch streams.
The recording files are quite big (like 1GB per hour) so I am searching for a way to split it up in smaller parts.
The best way for me would be if there is a way to make VLC stop and resume the recording once each hour and thus starts a new file.
