Subtitle track problem

I've been a long time user of VLC and I have always had this problem and it frequently results in having to find another program to use besides VLC. I have a large selection of things with 2, 3, or 4 different subtitle tracks and I want to be able to set it up to use a certain track at the start every time. However I have repeatedly attempted a dozen different methods even going into the Tools -> Preferences -> All Settings and attempting to change the default subtitle tracks. However no matter what number I set the default track or track ID to it refuses to default to anything besides Track 1 or disabled. If anyone has any advice or other fixes I could try I would really appreciate it. Its very annoying to have to stop what I am doing every 20-30 minutes to change the subtitle track because it won't change the default like I set it to.

Hi Anei
Sorry cannot help with your subtitle problem but I wonder if you have had any same subtitle problem as me
When playing recorded (from TV) video files the subtitles display too long
Sometimes they will stay on screen for minutes until another line of dialogue is spoken
Did you ever get this happening ?
Maybe you found a fix ?
Hope someone can help with your problem
