Update keyboard shortcuts without restarting VLC

Hello, is there a way to update the keyboard shortcuts I set, without restarting VLC? I'm using Linux Mint 17, if it makes difference. Thank you very much.
VLC on Linux Mint 17 XFCE. English isn't my first language, so please excuse any mistakes!
