Vlc and MPC voices

I dont hear any voices in certain movies in VLC but if I play the same file in MPC, it works. The way to fix it for me is to switch from 7.1 to sterio but I dont want sterio... Is there anyway to fix this inside VLC?

Then plug all in the 7.1 speakers, all eight of them.
