Recording to ogg - garbled audio

I can listen to a live asf stream from a foscam just fine, but when I hit the record button and play back the resulting file (ogg) - the audio is garbled.

The audio works great live, but not from the recording. Any ideas?

VLC reports the codec used as
# ima wav adpcm (ms)
# mono
# 8000Hz
# 16 bits per sample

Also using VLC on ubuntu from repos if that is at all relevant.
