Setting Image Duration in Playlist

I am trying to set the duration each image in a playlist is displayed, but have not been able to do so. The time the image is displayed always defaults to the first time in the playlist. Following is the playlist I am using. The playlist was created using VLC and I modified the duration field.

Code: Select all
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <playlist xmlns="http://xspf.org/ns/0/" xmlns:vlc="http://www.videolan.org/vlc/playlist/ns/0/" version="1"> <title>Playlist</title> <trackList> <track> <location>file:///usr/share/backgrounds/gnome/Aqua.jpg</location> <duration>600000</duration> <extension application="http://www.videolan.org/vlc/playlist/0"> <vlc:id>0</vlc:id> </extension> </track> <track> <location>file:///usr/share/backgrounds/gnome/GreenMeadow.jpg</location> <duration>700000</duration> <extension application="http://www.videolan.org/vlc/playlist/0"> <vlc:id>1</vlc:id> </extension> </track> <track> <location>file:///usr/share/backgrounds/gnome/Spaceflare-nova.jpg</location> <duration>200000</duration> <extension application="http://www.videolan.org/vlc/playlist/0"> <vlc:id>2</vlc:id> </extension> </track> <track> <location>file:///usr/share/backgrounds/gnome/Spaceflare-supernova.jpg</location> <duration>310000</duration> <extension application="http://www.videolan.org/vlc/playlist/0"> <vlc:id>3</vlc:id> </extension> </track> <track> <location>file:///usr/share/backgrounds/gnome/Terraform-green.jpg</location> <duration>300000</duration> <extension application="http://www.videolan.org/vlc/playlist/0"> <vlc:id>4</vlc:id> </extension> </track> </trackList> <extension application="http://www.videolan.org/vlc/playlist/0"> <vlc:item tid="0"/> <vlc:item tid="1"/> <vlc:item tid="2"/> <vlc:item tid="3"/> <vlc:item tid="4"/> </extension> </playlist>
My understanding after the reading I did last night and this morning is the duration should affect each image. Is that correct?

I am running version 2.0.3.

Thank you for your help.

Jay

The duration tag is only used as a cached value for display in the playlist controls. It does not affect the actual playback.

Is it possible to set a different duration for each fixed image being displayed? If so, how?

Thank you,

Jay

You should use --image-duration option.

Code: Select all

<vlc:id>0</vlc:id> <vlc:option>image-duration=600</vlc:option>
