Problem editing videos

I'm trying to make a clip of a video. I understand that I'm just supposed to press record at the beginning and then record at the end, so that's what I'm doing. I had originally set a "point A" for the beginning but I decided I wanted the clip to be a little longer. But now when I press record, even several seconds earlier, it goes back to that spot and makes the clip that exact same length. It is continuing to do this even when I close and re-open the program. Thanks in advance for any help.

You can not create a clip with the Record button. You have to do this with the function (Convert / Save ...).

Here is the procedure:

- Menu Media - Convert / Save...
- Select the source file
- Selekt "Show more options"
- Enter "Start Time" (for example "00H:00m:22s.000")
- In the line Edit Options" they see: " :file-caching=300 :start-time=22.000"
- You can here enter the stop time (f.e.): " :file-caching=300 :start-time=22.000 :stop-time=82.000"
- Next with button "Convert / Save"
- Select Profile an Destination file and start with the button "Start"

Oh, I am having one other problem though. When I make the clip there's a tiny bit of the very beginning of the video included. What should I do about that?

Check the settings for the VLC. Possibly Reset all settings.
Try different encodings.
