VLC playing MXF media

Hey guys,

I do video production and editing and I use VLC to playback almost all my video files outside of my editing apps. It works great 99% of the time, but I'm trying to playback some .MXF wrapped professional video files (XDcam EX from a Canon C300 camera) and it will load the file, but playback is black screen. Surely its a codec thing. I have the codecs downloaded and installed from Canon so my other apps can handle the media.

My question: Is there a way to specifically install new codecs for VLC so that I can playback these files, or should it already be giving me playback since the codecs are on the system and I'm dealing with a bug? ok, that was a long sentence... sorry.

No, you cannot install new codecs.

VLC can support MXF files now. but if there is still some playback problem, you can try some converters, like Handbrake, any video converter. free but easy to work with.
