Stream and Save from HTTP (Please Assist)

Hello.
I am a great fan of VLC. However I'm battling to perform the following:
I would like to stream, play and save a file, all at once from an http file. I can do this. What I can't do is save the file WITHOUT encoding it. I need the file downloaded to be exactly the same as the file on the server. A byte to byte comparison should be a perfect match. Like using a download manager.
Does anyone know how to do this?
Please assist.![Rolling Eyes ](./images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif)
