Trying to stream audio over HTTP, always asking for password

Postby guit » 22 Apr 2014 14:26

Hello,

For the first time ever, I try to stream an audio file from VLC to HTTP.

I think I've setup everything correctly...

But when I try to access the stream with my web browser (Chrome or IE), like this: http://user:password@ip:port, it always ask me for authentification. If I enter the user and password in that authentification box, still nothing happen, like it was a wrong user/password or something. But I'm sure they are correct, they are what I've setup in VLC settings under Stream -> Output module -> HTTP. So it won't let me listen to the stream... I've searched again and again, tried modifying every settings... no luck.

Any idea what could be wrong ? Is it possible that it's a bug with current version of VLC ? I'm on Windows 7 64 bits.

I've also tried streaming with IceCast, my stream never appear anywhere, or, well, I don't know how to find it.

Any help appreciated :)

Also, it would be much easier if there was no need of a password or user, but there is no option to disable HTTP authentification :S

The problem was solved by... disabling VLC's Web interface, which also use port 8080, and can't be changed (at least from the GUI), and because the HTTP streaming won't work if I change the port to something else than 8080. Weird :S

Edit: Ok I was trying port 8079 instead of default 8080, it didn't work... Just now I've tried port 8081 insteadn, for the HTTP stream, and it works! So I can also use the web interface on default port at the same time. I'm happy now ;)

It can be changed by the GUI.

Sorry but I can't find anywhere an option to change the Web Interface port from the GUI. Anyway my problem is fully solved now (I've edited my previous port) ;)
