Legal usage (sorry in advance)

Dear all!
Should I mistake and make another copy of such thread - kindly ask you to forgive me.

Please advise on the following issue:

I'm totally in love with VLC: it's user friendly, easy, NEVER says NO to a video file (in 99% of cases).
I'm working for a large multinational corporation (worldwide). Personally I am located in Russian Federation.
Company policy dictates I only install software, that is freeware for corporate use, even though I'm the only one, who plans on using it throughout the company.

Purpose of use: running video clips (movies and stuff)

Could you please provide information, regarding: is it permitted to install and run it on a corporate laptop, without any further complications?
The company will take it absolutely serious, should this turn out into any sort of violation.

Thanks you in advance,
Kindest regards.

You can use the software in the way you want (within the boundary of law), for personal, educational, research, military, governmental, professional purpose or any other way...
