Why "zoom video" and "video scaling factor"?

Why the two options "Zoom video" and "video scaling factor" be used when only one of them works.
Why has Rincewind not "Zoom video" away, rather than to swap the functionality of these two options and to disable the video output to a certain size?

Tooltip help of "Video scaling factor" says: "Scaling factor used when Auto Scaling is disabled."
Tooltip help of "Zoom video" says: "You can zoom the video by the specified factor."
Makes sense?

No, that makes no sense!
The scaling (in Twoflower with Video scaling factor - in Rinsewind with Zoom) works with and without autoscaling.
By the way, the functionality of "Video scaling factor" and "Zoom" have changed (by Twoflower to Rincewind), the tool tips not!

I believe the original idea is that zoom controls and obeys the size of the window, whereas scale controls only the size of the video. I don't think this has worked properly since the big video output rework in VLC 1.1 or so. And even before that it was hazy.
So you could use zoom with autoscale, and you could use scale with forced width and height, but not vice versa.

With "Twoflower" everything worked, with "Rincewind" it no longer functions properly.
Why did they do this ?????
It would have been sufficient to remove the zoom option. They did not work and they did not really matter!
I have written a bug report
ticket #10913

Come on, it was seriously broken in previous versions too. There has been a huge amount of bug reports.

No, there hasn't been a huge amount of bug reports.
I have searched for similar tickets and some found.
But I have found none, in which the scaling principle did not work.
For two years I had with "Twoflower" not even a problem with the size of videos.
For over a year I moderate the German VLC forum.
During this time there was with "Twoflower" no problems with the size of videos.
Only with "Rincewind" this problem has occurred.

Sorry but you are being delusional. I read almost every bug every filed on VLC. I know what I am talking about.

I'm know, I'm delusional. Thanks for your assessment of my person.
