Best Quality/Reliable format for supported playback in VLC

Hello and thank you so much for reading this post.

I am preparing to encode a file for playback in a small movie theater which accepts digital files for exhibition. They use VLC for playback. My source file is a Pro Res 422 (HQ) file, which VLC will play but not without some freezing/stuttering here and there. I understand that VLC does not natively support Pro Res so I want to encode a file which will ensure the most reliable but also the highest quality possible since this is for exhibition in the theater.

I consulted the VideoLan support/info page (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.php?cat=video) and looked at the "Video Formats" tab, which lists the following supported playback formats (I'm not sure if I should instead be looking at the "Input Formats" tab):
MPEG-1/2
DIVX (1/2/3)
MPEG-4 ASP, DivX 4/5/6, XviD, 3ivX D4
H.261
H.263 / H.263i
H.264 / MPEG-4 AVC
Cinepak
Theora
Dirac / VC-2
MJPEG (A/B)
WMV 1/2
WMV 3 / WMV-9 / VC-1 1
Sorenson 1/3 (Quicktime)
DV (Digital Video)

Can anyone tell me which of these would provide the highest quality possible AND totally stable in playback with VLC? The theater's computer is a Mac, if that matters.

H.264 / MPEG-4 AVC

Basically the same video format as blu-ray and most streaming video.
