Media Library > what and where is it?

Hello. I am new to this forum and new to VLC as I just started using it this week.

Excuse me if this is answered many times in other posts, but I searched here and in the wiki, and I'm still confused.

I know what a Playlist is, in the command window of VLC. Everything I open or drag and drop there goes into Playlist.

But, it seems like there should be a way to save and access a whole library of media under the Media Library arrow icon.

What is a Media Library in VLC and where is it stored?
