We sell a lot of cameras that records in 60i. I have often recommended VLC, and i took it for granted that the new VLC could handle this format. But VLC could have handle this better. First of all VLC should understand if the video files are interlaced so the user don't have to switch it on. Also the colors seems weeker than other players. I have tested this with videos made borth with Panasonic and Sony. AVCHD is now a widely used format.

Let me say this another way, is it possible to put VLC on automatic de-interlacing when it discovers a 50i or 60i video?
I don't think there are meny whou would like to see interlaced artifacts anyway?

Yes, you can put the deinterlacing option to auto in preferences.
